2018 Markets Year in Review

We wish you and your family a Happy New Year!  As we look ahead to 2019 and get ready for the upcoming Tax Season, we'd like to pass along Dimensional Funds' year-in-review for markets in 2018:

DFA 2018 Markets Year-In-Review

While global equity markets delivered positive returns through September 2018, Q4 2018's decline and increased volatility ultimately delivered negative annual returns for the year.  Our takeaway from this is to reaffirm that as investors and investment managers, we need to focus on what we can control (diversification, low investment costs, having an investment philosophy for our portfolio and sticking to it) and not on the factors we can't control (i.e., trying to time the markets based on how markets are going to perform).
